What is cropspot?

cropspot is a digital trading platform for agricultural commodities. Our target groups are all companies along the agricultural value chain. Our goal is to optimise the marketing and procurement of raw goods and to advance the benefits of digitalisation in the agricultural sector.

Is cropspot independent?

Yes, cropspot is an independent trading platform for agricultural commodities.

Who is behind cropspot?

The cropspot founders are rooted in agriculture and have many years of experience in both wholesale and agricultural commodity trading.

Who can use cropspot?

cropspot is aimed at farmers, traders and the processing industry. cropspot caters to both small and large operations as well as agricultural cooperatives. Regardless of the size of the operation, trading on cropspot is possible from a trading volume of 25t.

Does cropspot trade goods itself?

No, cropspot only acts as a broker of the transaction and is never the owner of any goods.

In which languages is cropspot available?

Currently the platform is available in German and English. In the future, cropspot will be available in all relevant languages in which we are active.

Costs

What does it cost to use cropspot?

Registration on cropspot and use of the platform is free of charge. When a deal is concluded, a brokerage fee per traded tonne is incurred. Please refer to our current price list for the specific costs.

How is the brokerage fee calculated and who pays it?

The brokerage fee is a fixed price per traded tonne. The fee is paid by both the buyer and the seller, based on the trading volume stated in the concluded contract.

Is the brokerage fee transferred separately to cropspot or is it automatically debited from the account?

cropspot will send you a separate monthly invoice listing all traded items. Please transfer this promptly to the specified bank account.

How can I register?

Visit cropspot.com and click on 'Register Now'. After entering your data, you will receive a verification email, which you must confirm. You can then log in to the web app with your data.

I have forgotten my password, how can I reset it?

If you are unable to log in because you have forgotten your password, please click on 'Forgot your password?', enter the email address by which you registered your user account at cropspot, and a new password will be sent to you.

Which products can be traded on cropspot?

Currently, the following products can be traded on cropspot:
Wheat, barley, rapeseed, spelt, triticale, rye, oats, field bean, pea, grain maize

How can you advertise your goods on cropspot?

Decide for supply or demand. Select the article you want to advertise and the quality class. You also enter the year of harvest and the country of origin. Select either 'Standardised quality' or 'Specific quality' and adjust the individual parameters. Enter the quantity to be marketed. Under 'Desired parity' you select the delivery method. Furthermore, you have to select a date for the fulfilment of the contract. In the free field you can enter additional provisions relevant to the contract, which will be printed in a legally valid form. You will now receive an overview of the information you have entered for verification. Click on 'Save' to create your non-binding advertisement and make it visible on our platform.

Do I automatically receive offers on my advertisements?

After you have created an advertisement, it is visible on our crop map. Potential buyers can now place prices on your listing.

Who can bid on my advertisements?

We have many traders, processing industry, such as feed mixing plants or processing companies on our platform. Traders can narrow down the advertisements displayed using a search and filter function. Anyone with an interest in buying can submit a price for your advertisement.

Can anyone on cropspot see my address?

The listing of goods is anonymous. Only when a negotiation takes place is the anonymity lifted and the contact details of the negotiating partners become visible.

What do I have to do if I receive a price on one of my advertisements?

As soon as you receive a price or submit an offer yourself, a chat opens in the 'Negotiation & Settlement' area. There you can react to the offer by accepting, rejecting or creating a counter-offer. You can also discuss details here. You can also call up the chat history at any time later.

What happens if I accept an offered price?

If you accept an offered price, a binding contract is created. If a contract is concluded, the contract note is available for download in the chat after a few minutes. You can exchange files such as weighing notes via the document upload.

Definitions of terms

What does unit conditions mean?

The Standard Terms and Conditions for the German Grain Trade (latest version) are an agreement on trading terms and conditions in the German grain trade.

What is the meaning of the addition unit terms following purchase terms?

The addition 'In accordance with the purchase condition' enables individual conditions for the purchase of agricultural raw materials to be integrated into the contract (e.g. no goods below 16%, minimum protein values, etc.).

What payment methods are available?

Invoice - seller writes invoice to buyer
Credit note - buyer transfers as a credit note to the seller's account
Prepayment - Payment before collection

What do the different dates mean when advertising?

Basic forward contract with flexible storage period, which provides for remuneration of the warehouse (report) from the month following the conclusion of the contract until the collection of the goods. The time of collection / delivery of goods is at the option of the buyer.
Ex Harvest - On mutual agreement, both the parties shall render the services while harvest is still in progress.
Union - Collection in a defined time window.
Month - Target month of performance of the contract.

What is the difference between Franko and Frei Fuhre?

Franko means delivered to the buyer. The seller bears the transport responsibility and costs to the destination. Free delivery means collection from the yard. The buyer bears the freight costs from the place of loading.

What is the Matif?

The Marche de Terme International de France (Matif) is the most important commodity futures exchange in Europe, located in Paris and founded in 1986. Among other things, futures on wheat, maize and rapeseed are traded on Matif. In the cropspot app you can view the current Matif prices live at any time.

What is meant by premium?

The premium is the difference between the spot market price (actual trading price) and the corresponding exchange price on the Matif. The premium depends primarily on the regional supply and demand situation.

What does premium-based indication mean?

With the premium-based indication, the indication price is automatically calculated from the Matif trading month and the selected basis. The basis thus represents the difference between the exchange price and the fixed price. The update of your indication is delayed by 15 minutes.
